The Waggle Company Announces Second Market Launch and Name Change to Skipper to Reflect Broader Vision to Shape The Future Pet Care Services
FOR RELEASE: June 12, 2018
(CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA) – The Waggle Company, the trusted, Charlotte-based technology startup that brings peace of mind to pet owners through fully customized dog walking services, announced today it is changing its name to Skipper. The name change reflects the company’s broader vision to shape the future of pet care services.
Co-Founder and CEO, Meggie Williams, says that the company has been planning this name change along with other major upcoming strategic initiatives, including opening weekend services, offering other pet-related services, and expanding into new markets – beginning this month with Austin, TX.
“The name change comes from a deep understanding of where we started, who we’ve become, and where we’re going – and at the core of that journey is an unwavering focus on building trust and creating adventures to surprise and delight our client family.” Through its professionally trained team and technology platform, Skipper sends real-time updates and a visit report with a GPS-tracked map and pet photos. In February, Skipper raised $900K led by Charlotte Angel Fund and recently completed the Techstars impact accelerator program out of Austin, TX.
“The new name – Skipper – allows us to emphasize the feeling of movement, exploration, and empowerment that comes from being the captain of your own adventure. It’s a journey we’re all on,” says Williams. “As a company with deep expertise in curating a highly personalized experience, we’re paving the way to connect all the points in the pet care continuum.”
The brand will celebrate its (re)launch at Sycamore Brewing on Wed, 6/13, at 6pm during their weekly group dog walk, which will now be called Skip For Your Beer (a collaboration with Work For Your Beer). The name change is effective immediately.
