Social Media Intern

Are you creative and interested in being involved in the Charlotte startup scene? StartCharlotte, a one stop shop for Charlotte-area startup news and information as well as a voice for local startups, investors, and community leaders, is looking to expand its team.  We want to hire a Social Media Intern to cover local startup events, collect news stories for our weekly updates and develop and manage our social media accounts. You will also be responsible for additional content creation, maintaining social media accounts, monitoring and engaging in online forums, participating in outreach and promotion and conducting keyword analysis. This position is a learning opportunity for a college student to engage in hands-on experience focused on Social Media Marketing. The qualified intern will need strong critical thinking skills and expected to contribute in brainstorming sessions, manage defined tasks on your own and complete deliverables on-time and as requested.

The internship (for University credit) with StartCharlotte is designed to provide you a great opportunity to be a part of small team and gain experience in a variety of tasks. If you enjoy variation in your daily routines, we want to hear from you. This is a small organization where you will be involved in all aspects of our marketing campaign.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Executive Director to create and implement campaigns
  • Develop compelling content ideas to further engage and excite audiences
  • Design content calendars on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Monitor analytics to identify viable ideas
  • Conduct keyword analysis
  • Create weekly email updates on upcoming events and news stories
  • Take photos and videos during events for future use in presentations and videos

 

Required Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and Google+
  • Experience with social media analytics
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop
  • Solid creative writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to balance, multi-task and prioritize requests and still meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications
  • Available to work 5-10 hours a week
